The Fred Whitton Challenge

The Fred Whitton Challenge is a gruelling 112 mile sportive challenge ride for charity around the Lake District, run in memory of Fred Whitton. It starts & finishes at Coniston, and the route includes the climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott & Wrynose passes.
Our annual event is run in May each year, on the Sunday after May Day bank holiday Monday. We've also set up a timed self-led challenge ride over the same course, called the Four Seasons Fred Whitton, that you can do at any time of the year, when it suits you, with friends or clubmates for example
The 2012 Fred Whitton Challenge will be held on Sunday 13th May, and you can now enter the event.
For the entry form and details of how to enter see Enter 2012 Event. Entries must be in by Thursday January 12th at the latest.
The entry fee is the same as last year, £40, and this includes electronic timing, 2 feed stations plus a small meal at the finish, a certificate of your ride and free parking at Coniston Sports Centre field. And after expenses all remaining money from the entry fee, and all the sponsorship raised, is donated to the charities that the event supports.
