Join us for an evening with Lee Craigie, one of Scotland’s great bike racers, as she tells the story of her life in with new book Other Ways to Win: A competitive cyclist’s reflections on success, here at Alf Jones Cycles, Gresford.
Growing up in Glasgow, she skipped French lessons after discovering the freedom of cycling, heading into the Campsie Fells to see just how far she could ride. Craigie recounts epic adventures along the Tour Divide, Silk Road and the Highland Trail 550, as well as key moments in her career, including representing Great Britain at the World Championships. Through it all, she examines themes of friendship, loss, identity and the power of the outdoors, reminding us that there is more than one way to win at cycling – and life.
In 2013 Lee joined the Cannondale MTB team and later that year won the senior women’s race at Cathkin Braes, Glasgow, becoming the UK national cross country champion. Lee represented Scotland at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, finishing 7th place in the cross-country race, also held at Cathkin Braes. In 2016 she won the UK 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships and in that same year was part of the women’s team that set the record time for the North Coast 500.
