The information and data we hold:
At times, we will ask for your personal information, relating to sales, quotes and information requests in store and online. We will store your details including your name, postal and billing addresses, email addresses and phone numbers, (if you choose to give them to us) plus details of your purchases. We do not hold any payment card information of any type. By providing your details to Alf Jones Cycles on our web site, you consent to us maintaining, recording, holding and using the information you give us at the time of ordering to process your orders, to improve our service to you and inform you of promotions. All data is collected lawfully and maintained in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
We take your privacy very seriously and will not pass your details to any third party without your permission, other than where we have to do so to get your order to you, e.g. our delivery company. From time to time, we may send information about discounts, free stuff and personalised offers on products, unless you have told us not to do so by ticking the ‘opt out’ box on our website sign-up page, within our marketing emails or contacted us directly to remove this via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you opt-out from hearing from us, you will only be contacted by us if our terms and conditions change.
When you visit our website we may collect information about your online browsing behaviour and any devices you have used to access our website (including your IP address, browser type and mobile device identifiers) purely to use for our own marketing purposes. We use a third-party service to collect this information, Google Analytics. Visitors to our website are not identified in this data, purely numbers of visitors/traffic and behavioural data is processed. We use the data from Google Analytics to monitor our business trends and website performance, but most importantly how our customers use our website and how we can improve your browsing experience whilst on our site.
We will contact you in response to communications that you have directed at us. We want to be able to help you so we use personal data to provide clarification or assistance in response to your communications.
Our subscriber emails:
When you use our website ‘sign-up’ form or agree to our marketing options via our Mailchimp emails, or even in store, we will collect personal information. We use Mailchimp, a third-party marketing tool to email our customers directly about new products, information, offers and events. This usually happens on a weekly/fortnightly basis, but occasionally we may send them more frequently if we have something really important to share. We gather marketing data from Mailchimp to help us improve our email content to our customers.
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time, by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any of our emails. You may also contact our data controller to request this.
Our Social Media:
We use third-party Social Media platforms Facebook, Instagram & Twitter to promote our business, services, offers and news. Any public interactions made via social media platforms are visible to all. Any private/direct messages from customers via these social media platforms containing private information will not be shared with any other organisations.
We will only collect and use your personal information in accordance with EU data protection laws. We do not pass your information on to any other businesses or organisations. Our grounds for processing your personal information are as follows:
