Covid-19 – Information for Customers

The team at Alf Jones Cycles would like to thank our customers for your extended patience during these strange and challenging times we are currently experiencing. As Covid lockdown eases across England, please bear in mind that although very close to the border, our shop is actually in Wales, where the lockdown guidelines are different. If you would like to visit us, our shop in Gresford is open for business, but please note a  temporary change to our opening hours. We will be open in a limited capacity, working to the following days and hours:

Monday                     10am – 5pm
Tuesday                     10am – 5pm
Wednesday              10am – 5pm
Thursday                   10am – 5pm
Friday                        10am – 5pm
Saturday                   10am – 5pm
Sunday                      Closed

Our door will be open but to help adhere to the social distancing guidelines we have set up a counter just outside the door for you to use hand sanitisers and wipe any service bikes down prior to coming into our workshop for repair. Unfortunately, we can’t allow customers to wander freely around the store, and aim to limit the amount of customers we have in store at any one time, so we have a queuing system in place at the door, and would kindly ask you to adhere to the guidelines for the safety of all our customers and staff. We would ask that if you do visit us that you have a reasonably specific idea of what you need, we are not open for browsing without a purpose, even better if you can call ahead and let us know what you are looking for and make a payment over the phone and arrange to collect.

If you are trying to contact us via phone, email, social media,  we will reply but please be patient, as we are extremely busy, whilst opening shorter hours,  and responding as quickly as we can. We appreciate we may not be able to offer our usual levels of service and efficiency, but we will do our best to accommodate your enquiry.

Our Workshop Servicing is running but due to un-anticipated demand we are already booked up 4 weeks in advance, so no ‘drop-in’ service slots are currently available, and you will need to call us or email to book your bike in. Our service team have been working hard throughout the Covid lockdown to keep our customers on two wheels, so please respect how busy they have been if we can’t fit your bike in straight away.

Our Bikefit services are still currently suspended due to the close proximity required of our staff and customers in our small bike fit room, plus bike contact points, which we feel adds unnecessary  levels of risk at this point. We will review this situation on a regular basis. All newly purchased road bikes will come with a very basic ‘hand-over’ seat height and reach check, a more detailed fit can be arranged by appointment at a later date.

Our cafe is currently closed.

Our absolute main priority is, and will continue to be, the safety and well being of our staff, customers and the wider community. We will do what we can to continue to provide our service in the safest, most responsible way.  Until the time that we are able to open fully and get back to normal, we would really appreciate your understanding, and would re-iterate the need to follow the advice of the UK government to stay aware and adhere to the social distancing recommendations when visiting us in store. We have placed some obvious social distancing markers & reminders in store, so please look out for those, we would suggest the following:

  • wear a mask and gloves whilst in store
  • clean your bike down before you drop it off for servicing
  • wherever possible, please pay with contactless cards, only use cash when absolutely necessary
  • please respect the queuing system we have at the door and wait to be seen, allowing space for other customers to exit the store
  • please observe the 2 meter distancing rule in store and at the counter when paying
  • please do not touch anything you don’t anticipate buying
  • give a thought to other customers and staff whilst you are in store.
  • if you do feel unwell in anyway we would politely ask you not to visit until you feel better.

Please don’t be offended if we aren’t as chatty or stand a little further away than we normally would, we are doing it for the safety of both our staff and our customers.

If we all stick to the guidelines the sooner we can return to days of coffees, chats, hugs, handshakes and high fives.

All the best, keep safe and keep riding.

Andy, Karen, Pete, Sophie, Chris, Meg, Jake, Matt, Mike, Ryan, Nick, Sam and Isla (the dog!)
